The second installment in the “FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Project” following “FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE,” titled “FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH,” was announced on the 17th. The game is scheduled for release next winter. Additionally, it was revealed that the remake project will conclude as a trilogy.
Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura’s Comment:
As announced, there are currently four titles in the running for the “FFVII” project. Although each of the four works has a different role, they all link up with high quality to the world and characters of “FFVII.” As someone who knows why each element was created during the original development—what intent and thoughts were behind them—I am involved in this project. And now speaking about “FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH,” it is crafted so that those familiar with the original can enjoy it just as much as those who are not. It might even be possible to have fun jumping into this saga from this second installment. The new journey for Cloud and company starts here. The sights they see after leaving Midgar will also be a fresh experience for everyone else too. I look forward to sharing more about how we arrived at choosing subtitles like “REMAKE” for the first installment and “REBIRTH” for this one, what title we choose for third one, and where this adventure ultimately leads us all to end up at—an experience I can’t wait to share with you all soon.
Development is progressing at top speed under our current structure; rarely do you see a title of such magnitude that’s fully connected from start to finish before production really kicks off—let alone one set within an established series like ours spanning three installments no less!
